Regency Stays

They are finally done!

I realize that I need some new lacing!

I really love this pattern, except for the sizing problem. I measure about a 12, so I made these in a 10, and they are almost too big. If I used the pattern again I would definitely make an 8. Otherwise it was smooth sailing!
My dress is done except for the hem and buttonholes - so expect pictures fairly soon.

I think everybody has a problem with the sizing... that is why it is so important to do a mockup and follow directions! ;-) I didn't with my first pair. Well, I made a mockup but I didn't listen to Mrs. Chancey's directions very well and kind of did my own thing and it ended up being too big. I'm "sort of" working on another pair but think they might be too small. I had added a couple inches to the bottom of the stays but I don't think I took into consideration my thick ribcage when I did so. :-S So it's kind of tight on the ribs. I might just have to cut it down a little.

Anyway, your stays turned out looking very nice! :-D

Can't wait to see pictures of your dress! :-D

Dropping in from Kelly's Korner. I must say I am intrigued with your project here. I'd love to see your dress.
P.S. I was homeschooled as well and have a sincere love for all things Jane Austen. ;)
